Satoshi sounds like a girl.
Meakashi-hen is turning out to be an interesting chapter. More Shion screen time always wins bonus points in my book.
Could we perhaps see the emergence of a killer Shion?
Satoko is gaining major minus points though, I can’t stand her whining.
Satoko is intended to be a sympathetic character, but in a story featuring ordinary-seeming, powerless individuals that resort to extremes such as premeditated murder, her lack of assertiveness can wear on the viewer.
I agree with Burrowowl there. It’s kind of evident from the OP, an image of her crying in the fields while mumbling something.
What happened to her assertiveness?
I have no idea, perhaps it developed after the loss of Satoshi? She had to move on, she couldn’t stay mired in grief forever. Rika could have helped her establish this somewhat…

Hey, Shinji was voiced by a woman, and een though he wasn’t what you’d consider ‘manly’ he sounded male enough ;)
