Gave way and got the first episode of Genshiken. It's got to be good, I mean, there are tons of people raving on about it and wishing for a sequel. My first impression, well, it's…different.
It's not everyday that you get an anime (and a manga!- need to check this out sometime) that is based upon otakus. It really gives you something to relate to :P.
Basically, it's about Sasahara, a university freshman joining Genshiken, a society/club in which they um, 'study' (read: watch) anime and manga. Oh, and they also have a huge cupboard full of doujinshi of the hentai kind. Mustn't forget to mention the realistic (pantsu included) figurines that are on display in the club room.
I love the pacing of the first episode, it has a nice and slow feel to it, it doesn't stuff fact upon fact and you as the poor viewer has to decipher said facts. *cough*shakugan*cough*
Also, animation isn't bad, not bad at all, though the Kujiki Unbalance OP and references just confused the heck out of me. What is Kujiun anyway? Some sort of anime within an anime? (why am I suddenly reminded of Nadesico and Gekigangar 3?)
A definite watch, hopefuly it'll get better as it goes.

Watch on and realise the power of Kujian. You have to download the 3 OVA episodes of Kujian and watch it after Genshiken.
Heh, will most definitely do!
Ah ha, succumb. SUCCUMB…. as for the Kujian thing, I was confused at first too. When I saw it for the first time, I thought I downloaded the wrong thing. I opened episode 2 and saw that it doesn’t make sense, so I went back to one… and then the fun began.
